Managed a staff of 2 full time Safety Professionals and 3 Environmental professionals.  Also managed Keene State College Safety Student Interns – 3 per summer in projects such as Lockout/Tagout Machine Specific Procedures, PPE Hazard Assessments, and Chemical Inventories.

Participated in the structuring of Lean Super Cells for increased productivity, quality, improved safety and scrap reduction

Reduced the OSHA Recordable Incident Rate 6.4 in 3 years

Represented Ruger in nine OSHA inspections resulting in significant citation and fine reduction

Instituted Ruger’s comprehensive Safety and Environmental formal program

Supervised all of Ruger’s construction projects including the new waste-water system emaserator, installation of new chillers, several crane picks, new scrubber installation, Remodel and refit of the Mayodan, NC facility, etc.

Represented Ruger in NH-DES wall to wall Hazardous Waste Compliance Inspections resulting in zero citations and zero fines

Represented Ruger in NH-DES wall to wall Air Discharge Compliance Inspections resulting in zero citations and zero fines

Represented Ruger in agreements with OSHA for outside independent EHS audits with GZA Consultants

Developed and implemented several corporate programs with associated training over 1200 employees working in 5 manufacturing buildings and started a motivation program utilizing the employee safety committee

Participated in Insurance Broker and Carrier selection with Ruger Corporate Legal

Coordinated Facilities PM activities for ventilation systems, range systems, foundry systems, and multi owned support systems

Implemented ergonomic changes in all Ruger Newport office locations

Developed implemented and maintained a comprehensive Outside Contractor Safety Program

Developed and implemented the Ruger NFPA 70E compliance program

Wrote and helped implement the Ruger Hearing Conservation program

Established the Ruger Health and Safety Committee and the Safety Committee Inspection process

Modified the Ruger Lockout/Tagout program to meet federal mandates

Created the Ruger Emergency Response and Disaster plan. This included building a team of Emergency Coordinators, development of formal plans, conducting training and running drills with local police and fire.

Developed and implemented the Ruger Compliance Calendar to ensure compliance deadlines were met either early or on time.  Compliance with Federal, State, Local and Ruger mandates

Established a landing site for the DHART helicopters for use by the Town of Newport as well as Ruger during severe emergencies

Provided the initiative and participated on the Senior Management Parent A-3 for Safety Culture Improvement

Assisted in the establishment of the New Hampshire General Industry and OSHA Roundtable.  Has been a speaker for this group 3 times

Participated with the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) Professional Development Conference as their 2015 Keynote Speaker

Served as the Marketing Committee Chairman for the ASSE Professional Conferences for 2014 and 2015

 

Assistant Vice President – Loss Control

Rebuilt and guided the operation of the Loss Control entity for Acadia Insurance – a six State multiline insurance carrier

7,800 independent agents and brokers assessed the performance of over 200 property and casualty carriers in Deep Customer Connections, Inc. 8th annual survey. Acadia Insurance was recognized for outstanding performance in the delivery of loss control expertise. The Agents ranked Acadia's performance #3 nationally in Loss Control, the only Acadia department to be recognized.

Managed 6 Loss Control Directors with a total loss control staff of 43 professionals

Established a Loss Control Director / Loss Control Staff Member mentor program

Reduced company claim frequency by 5.5 % each year over a three year period

Restructured the entire loss control department (included developing standards for performance and internal audit guidelines)

Improved consultant recommendation compliance from 42% to 94% in two years

Improved new business to exceed corporate goals by 3%

Assisted in achieving a Synergy Account Retention of 89.9%

Built a Special Emphasis Group organization to address the most frequent and severe loss exposures. This included Loss Control, Underwriting and Claims. Special interest groups included, Construction, Manufacturing, Ergonomics, Property Protection, Logging and Industrial Hygiene.

Developed and implemented a corporation wide audit program for loss control.  Scores improved consistently over three company wide audits performed

Developed and implemented a corporate Underwriting guideline to reduce expenses while increasing exposure identification

Corporate Director – EHS, Facilities and Security

Member of the KMS Operations Management Staff

Managed a staff of 43 employees in three multi-national plants in all areas of EHS, Facilities and Security

Managed total budgets of over $12 million

Developed and conducted Program Auditor program for Koch Chemical Technology Group

Supervised and served as construction manager for 3 major expansion projects both in the United States and in Germany

Reduced Workers’ Compensation costs $498,000 in first year.  Workers’ Compensation losses did not exceed $30,000 for subsequent years

Reduced dependence on outside contractors saving over $190,000 annually

Participated in the Lean Production Planning effort to layout the various production units in all KMS plants

Designed and implemented a complete change management process that addressed Manufacturing Engineering and Research and Development

Worked with the Chemical Sales group to verify chemical data and labeling for current customers as mandated by the US. Department of Labor

Underwent inspections by the Koch Industries Corporation, State, Federal and local agencies – all with no Notices of Violation, citations or recommendations

Provided training and education in areas of Risk Management, chemical concepts / manufacturing, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis, budget preparation, computer software programs and design build

Wilmington entity received the Massachusetts Safety Council “Best in Class” Group Safety Award two years in a row. This award was given for or achieving a Lost Time Case Rate of 0.28 when the national average was 3.1.

Managed a multi-disciplinary consulting staff of 18 professionals in three Marsh offices

Developed and conducted effective sales and marketing training / education for Marsh Consulting Staff

Worked with Brokerage sales to establish sales forecast for the Boston Area Consulting Group

Developed safety auditing program for consultant use with MRC customers.  Also developed a full training program for implementation.

Served as lead consultant on the Metrowest Water Supply Pipeline underground construction, which was 400 feet down and 28 miles long

Served as the lead consultant on the construction of the Silver Line Tunnel under Boston’s 4 Point Channel

Served as the consultant on the construction of the high speed rail line from Boston to New York City

Worked on the Deer Island construction project as a consultant for several contractors

Developed and sold services that provided 85% fee base workload (paid by the customer)

Was responsible for auditing and inspecting customer job sites, factories, construction projects, and transportation exposures.

Did management consulting that improved productivity, improved produce quality and reduced scrap.   Also worked with clients to change operations from one piece fabrication to a lean assembly line production.

Produced sales of $2.55 million in internal billing for consultation service fees resulting in 11,031 consulting hours
